Münchener Hypothekenbank eG (MünchenerHyp) is rated internationally as one of the Pfandbrief banks that operates in a particularly sustainable manner.
In its most recent rating report ISS-oekom raised MünchenerHyp’s sustainability rating from C+ to B-. This upgrade means that the cooperative property financer is once again one of the top three rated institutions in the category “Financials/Mortgage & Public Sector Finance”. In addition, the rating agency also confirmed MünchenerHyp’s “Prime Status”.

Münchener Hypothekenbank eG was able to further expand its earnings in the first half of 2018. .
Net interest income increased by 11 percent over the same year-ago figure to € 138.1 million. The figure recorded for net interest income and net commission income improved by 19 percent to € 102.8 million following a slight decline in commission expenses.
Dr. Holger Horn appointed to MünchenerHyp’s Board of Management
The Supervisory Board of Münchener Hypothekenbank eG has resolved to appoint Dr. Holger Horn (born in 1974) as a member of MünchenerHyp’s Board of Management.
The appointment is subject to approval by banking supervision authorities. Plans call for Dr. Horn to begin his duties in Munich on 1 January 2019. He replaces Bernhard Heinlein (born in 1956) on the Board of Management, who will retire.

The Bank’s new mortgage finance business exceeded the € 5 billion euro mark for the first time and totalled € 5.1 billion. “Our new business results again benefited from the unbroken favourable situation in the property markets. This allowed us to further strengthen our market position as planned,” said Dr. Louis Hagen, Chairman of the Münchener Hypothekenbank’s Board of Management.

Münchener Hypothekenbank eG has financed the Monument Building, located at 11 Monument Street in London.
The bank was mandated by the Global Real Estate group of Credit Suisse Asset Management to provide the financing for an investment vehicle limited to Swiss investors.
MünchenerHyp acts as sole underwriter for the financing at the end of 2017. The loan-to-value ratio of the financing is 57 percent. Almost half of the loan was syndicated to LBBW with MünchenerHyp acting as the agent for this transaction.

Münchener Hypothekenbank eG’s most recent Swiss franc denominated Mortgage Pfandbrief set a record in the Swiss capital market.
It marked the first time ever that a foreign covered bond issuer obtained a higher interest rate discount vis-a-vis the Swiss domestic Pfandbrief interest rate curve. The issue was placed at a price 8 basis points below the Swiss franc mid-swap rate.

During the first six months of the year the Bank’s interest income rose to € 124.8 million, a gain of 12 percent over the same year-ago figure (30 June 2016: € 111.9 million).

Münchener Hypothekenbank eG has set an end to this year’s summer break while issuing its second Mortgage Pfandbrief in benchmark size.
The issue met a huge investor demand so that the bank had decided to increase the volume to € 750 million. The order book had exceeded € 1 billion in size.
The maturity of the Mortgage Pfandbrief is a long 9 years and has a coupon of 0.625 percent. The bond was priced at midswap minus 13 basis points.

The Delegates Meeting of Münchener Hypothekenbank eG has elected Josef Hodrus as a new member of the Bank’s Supervisory Board.
Josef Hodrus is a member of the Board of Management of the Volksbank Allgäu-West eG, which he has successfully led since 1998. MünchenerHyp provides underwriting of Deutsche Telekom building in Bonn
Münchener Hypothekenbank eG has provided underwriting of Deutsche Telekom’s headquarters building in Bonn.
After fully underwriting the loan, MünchenerHyp placed 50 percent of the financing with external investors.
The financed building complex is located in the federal district (Bundesviertel) of Bonn and is fully let to Deutsche Telekom AG. The property has over 81,000 square metres of space and 946 underground parking spaces.
MünchenerHyp finances purchase of 69 Boulevard Haussmann in Paris
Münchener Hypothekenbank eG has financed the purchase of an office and commercial building located in the central business district of Paris at 69 Boulevard Haussmann.
The financing has a volume of € 64 million. The building was acquired by Encore+, an open-ended fund managed by Aviva Investors with LaSalle Investment serving as the asset manager.
MünchenerHyp Receives mtn-i Award for Deal of the Year
Münchener Hypothekenbank eG has received the Deal of the Year Award from mtn-i, a well known international data platform for fixed-income securities.
The jury’s decision was based on a Swiss Franc denominated Mortgage Pfandbrief that was issued by MünchenerHyp in the summer of 2016.
MünchenerHyp was the first German bank to issue a Swiss Franc denominated Pfandbrief since 2010. The 2-year Pfandbrief had a volume of 200 million Swiss Franc and a coupon of 0.01 percent. Commerzbank served as lead manager for the issue.
MünchenerHyp increases its results once again
Münchener Hypothekenbank eG announced today that its results have risen further.
As of 30 September 2016 the Bank recorded net interest income of € 168.5 million (30 September 2015: € 161.7 million), or 4.2 percent over the same year-ago figure. “We are on track to improve our earnings and see ourselves well positioned to face the growing challenges posed by the market and competition“, said Dr. Louis Hagen, Chief Executive Officer of MünchenerHyp.

Münchener Hypothekenbank eG has again issued a US dollar denominated benchmark Mortgage Pfandbrief.
The 3-year Pfandbrief has a volume of USD 600 million and a coupon of 1.375 percent. Pricing of the bond has been fixed at a Euro equivalent of 6 month Euribor of minus 10.5 basis points – a price level that was far beyond prices attained thus far by this year’s euro-denominated Pfandbrief issues.

Dr. Louis Hagen elected President of the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks
Dr. Louis Hagen, Chairman of the Münchener Hypothekenbank eG Board of Management was elected as President of the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks (vdp) during today’s members’ meeting of the Association.
Hagen has been a member of the vdp Board of Management since 2010 and previously served as the Chief Executive of the Association from 2001 until 2009. He became a member of Münchener Hypothekenbank’s Board of Management in 2009 and was subsequently named its Chairman in March 2016.
GFW Capital ends silent participation with Münchener Hypothekenbank
Münchener Hypothekenbank eG announced today that it has signed an agreement with GFW Capital GmbH to terminate a silent participation in the Bank effective 30 June 2016. This agreement will allow GFW Capital to redeem a bond it issued to refinance the silent participation.
The bond will also be redeemed on 30 June 2016.
GFW Capital has given notice today that it will redeem the bond (ISIN: XS0237509293) on 30 June 2016.

MünchenerHyp and Hausbank intensify cooperation – merger not foreseen at this time
Münchener Hypothekenbank eG (MünchenerHyp) and Hausbank München eG (Hausbank) have agreed to further intensify their good cooperative efforts of the previous years.
Both parties have identified a number of promising areas for future joint efforts, although a merger is not foreseen at this time.
MünchenerHyp and Hausbank signed a letter of intent in October 2015 wherein they agreed to closely examine future cooperation through to a possible merger.

Münchener Hypothekenbank eG (MünchenerHyp) and Hausbank München eG (Hausbank) are conducting talks about a possible collaboration that include a possible merger of the two banks.
A corresponding letter of intent has been signed by both parties. Coming talks should cover key issues and define details of the future strategic direction. These points should then be documented in a memorandum of understanding.

Münchener Hypothekenbank eG’s earnings figures are increasingly reflecting the Bank’s unbroken run of new business success.
As of 30 September 2015 the Bank’s net interest income figure was about 35 percent higher than the same year-ago figure and amounted to € 161.7 million. The Pfandbrief was priced at 17 basis points below the mid-swap rate, which is the highest discount for risk recorded thus far this year for Pfandbriefe and Covered Bonds.

Münchener Hypothekenbank eG announced today that it has provided € 20.7 million of financing for the purchase of Square 41, an office building in Frankfurt am Main.

MünchenerHyp strengthens its capital resources in preparation for ECB supervision
Münchener Hypothekenbank eG has significantly improved its own capital resources by raising about € 400 million of common equity Tier one capital during the first six months of this year.
The capital was raised within the framework of a broadly based effort to attract additional paid up capital from within the Cooperative Financial Network. As a result, the Bank’s common equity Tier one capital ratio rose substantially to 11.1 percent as of June 30, 2014 from 6.3 percent recorded at the end of 2013.

The rating agency Moody’s has raised the outlook for its ratings for uncovered liabilities (A2) and fundamental financial strength (D) of Münchener Hypothekenbank eG from negative to stable.
In addition, the Prime-1 rating for the Bank’s short-term liabilities was confirmed.
Moody’s justified this step by noting that MünchenerHyp had strengthened its level of equity capital in 2013. “Last year we were able to increase our common equity Tier 1 capital by about € 90 million,” said Dr. Louis Hagen, Spokesman for the Münchener Hypothekenbank’s Board of Management.
